Preschool
As you know there have been major changes here starting with the retirement of the organization’s founder. As the new Executive Director, I wanted to inform you personally of a positive solution we have come up with in response to these hard economic times.
Since its inception, our JCOC Oceanfront Preschool has struggled to survive. Although the school is an unquestionable academic success, it has never been fiscally sound. Therefore we had to make a tough decision. We have partnered with Head Start to take over management of the school. Although we will miss the direct contact with the children and the program, it is a win-win for the students, the parents and the teachers.
We will continue to run our successful JCOC Kids’ Club after-school program for at-risk school-aged children and would like to request that we use the remaining 09-10 preschool funding to support our Kids’ Club.
Also, we have just completed the Board and Staff Visioning training sessions, with three more sessions on Strategic Planning. I will forward you our completed plan for your review in December.
